Artist FAQ
Every culture has art worth framing — and every artist deserves to keep the lion's share of what it sells for. Here's how to get from sign-up to your first sale, and how earnings work.
Your first sale in 5 steps
- 1
Sign up as an artist
Create a free account at /signup. There's no cost to join and no listing fees.
- 2
Verify your email
Click the link we send you. Verification is required before you can publish art or receive payouts.
- 3
Upload your art
High-res JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 25 MB. Add a title, culture, and country so buyers can find it.
- 4
Get approved
A curator reviews every upload before it goes public — usually to check quality and rights, not taste.
- 5
Connect payouts
Set up payouts with Stripe from the Artist Studio, available in Stripe-supported countries. Then you're live and earning on every sale.
More questions
What should I upload, and at what resolution?
Upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP files up to 25 MB. For the sharpest prints, we recommend an image with at least 3000px on the long edge — that gives our print partner enough detail to produce our largest size, A2, at museum quality. Smaller images can still look great at A4 or A3.
How does pricing and markup work?
You set your own markup per artwork, anywhere from $1 to $10,000. Buyers pay production cost (print + frame) plus your markup, plus a flat $12 shipping and a small service fee (5% of the order, minimum $2) that covers card processing. You keep 95% of your markup on every sale; EveryCulture keeps 5%. Production cost, shipping, and the service fee never come out of your share.
Worked example
Say you set a $40 markup on an artwork, and a buyer orders it as an A3 print in a classic black frame:
- A3 print: $21
- Black frame: +$48
- Your markup: +$40
- Shipping: +$12
- Service fee (5%): +$6.05
- Buyer pays: $127.05
Of your $40 markup, you receive $38.00 (95%) and EveryCulture receives $2.00 (5%). Everything else covers production, shipping, and payment processing.
What happens during review, and why might art get rejected?
Before anything goes public, a curator checks each upload for image quality (sharp, well-lit, high enough resolution to print well) and for rights — you must own or have permission to sell the work you upload. Art is typically rejected for low resolution, watermarks, poor image quality, or unclear ownership. You can fix the issue and resubmit.
How do payouts work, and which countries are supported?
Payouts run through Stripe. Connect your account from the Artist Studio — you'll need to be in a country Stripe supports for payouts. Once connected, your share of each sale accumulates and pays out automatically.
Who owns the copyright to my art?
You do. You must own the rights to any work you upload, and you keep those rights — listing on EveryCulture doesn't transfer ownership. If you believe your work or someone else's has been used without permission, report it to hello@everyculture.art.
Can I edit or remove artwork after it's published?
Yes, from the Artist Studio. You can update details or take a piece down at any time. Orders already placed for that artwork will still be produced and shipped as normal.
When and how does the money arrive?
Once a buyer's payment succeeds, your share of the markup is credited to your account. Stripe then pays it out to your connected bank account on its usual payout schedule. You can track your sales and earnings any time from the Artist Studio.
